Sijnn

A Cape icon by David Trafford, one of the most admired winemakers in SA. This very exciting red blend from a new and remote vineyard area has been lauded by Jancis Robinson & many others. Southern Rhone varietals Shiraz & Mourvedre combine with the Portuguese Touriga Nacional & Trincadeira and a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon to create a big, broad silky wine with layers of complexity and deep minerality from the very poor stony soils. This is a real new star and only in its fourth vintage. Drinking beautifully but will continue to evolve if you can keep it. James Molesworth of Wine Spectator says “There are few wines I would push people to seek out – I like to point to quality and then let consumers find what style of wine they enjoy drinking. In this case though, I think it’s important for anyone who appreciates the efforts that go into making wine to try and track down a few bottles of Sijnn. There are few projects that epitomize such a soulful, pioneering approach to winemaking.
